Harley
Harley came into the rescue at 16mo old…..a big boy, weighing in at 75lbs of rambunctious puppy. His previous owners had difficulty controlling him and their child was afraid of him. To them, he was trouble, but we saw a smart boy who just needed attention and training.
During Harley’s time with his foster, we learned that he was easily trained and happy to please but a dog who required lots of exercise and attention from his people. His adopters already had a golden Doodle named Winston who had been sent to specialized training to be a service dog who worked as a greeter at the airport. They knew that Harley would benefit from the same training, so he was enrolled in a top-rated training program so that he too could become a service dog. Now that Harley and Winston are both certified as service dogs, they spend time every week at one of the busiest airports in the country greeting people, calming those who are anxious about their flight and being gentle with the children who are instantly drawn to them. Visiting the airport is a family service for the Lohrs, and Harley was the perfect addition to this volunteering family!
