A Bright Light in the Rescue Village

At Doodle Dandy Rescue, every volunteer brings something special to the table—but some shine so brightly, it’s impossible not to notice. Since joining DDR in July 2024, Meg has been lighting up multiple corners of our rescue village: first as a Social Media Volunteer, and now as a powerhouse on our Foster Placement team.

“I started off joining the Social Media team as a Social Media Volunteer,” Meg shared. “Along with creating social media posts, I also help on the Foster Placement side as a Foster Placement Coordinator.” That dual role allows her to tell the stories of our rescue pups and help write the next chapter of their lives—placing them into safe, loving foster homes where they can begin their journey to forever.

And make no mistake—Meg works hard. Foster placement is a job that demands urgency, patience, and problem-solving at any hour. One of her teammates put it best: “She has come through in moments when we need urgent fosters found—and that is not an easy task!” Yet Meg does it all with humility and grace, always focused on what really matters: the dogs.

“The community that we have here at Doodle Dandy Rescue is amazing,” Meg says. “Everyone is SO nice and helpful. They truly care about the well-being of every dog that we bring in.” That spirit of teamwork and compassion fuels her efforts—and it shows in the impact she makes.

Meg is the kind of teammate who boosts every part of the rescue. She helps the Intake team match pups with foster homes, works with Foster Onboarding to ensure fosters are approved for a placement, and supports volunteers across every region. She also brings life to our social media pages—capturing sweet moments, highlighting milestones, and sharing the joy of every adoption.

But ask her what she loves most, and her answer is instant: “Knowing that I am a small piece of helping these dogs find their forever homes and seeing the true joy it brings to their forever families is what I enjoy the most.” And yes—she has a soft spot for one special kind of moment: “I also love when I place a dog into a foster home and they end up foster failing. It always makes my day!”

Meg understands that rescue isn’t always easy. “Volunteering with Doodle Dandy has taught me that rescuing is hard work—but it is priceless. All the work that we do to help those dogs find their forever is so worth it.” That heart, that hustle, and that deep understanding of why we do what we do is what makes her a true embodiment of our motto:

Be Kind. Work Hard. Save Doodles.

Meg, thank you for being a rock for your teammates, a voice for the voiceless, and a warm, joyful presence in this rescue family. We’re so lucky to have you in our village.
