VIP Foster, Louanne, has been fostering dogs for the last 16 years. She has 3 toy poodle & poodle mix resident pups at home, who are all rescues. She joined the Doodle Dandy Rescue Foster team a little over a year ago and has also assisted with Transport. In addition, she has recently been invited to join our Foster Mentor team.

Occasionally, we have foster pups who require an experienced foster due to medical or behavioral needs, and Louanne has volunteered to foster in these special cases not once but twice. One of those special foster pups was Guardian (pictured with Louanne), a recently adopted pup, who spent eight months in her home while he underwent a rigorous medical journey for one of the most severe allergy cases we have ever seen in the rescue.

Louanne went above and beyond to care for Guardian's special needs. This included a treatment regimen consisting of a special diet, medicated baths, allergy medications, and injections, etc. She was always a caring, supportive, patient, and dedicated foster which has earned her VIP Foster Status!!

Louanne says, "I love the fantastic supportive community of DDR! This organization has really thought through the rescue process and how to make it work for everyone. Having a team of specific people to work with the foster human and throughout the rescue process works so well. Having the same medical, media, mentor, and other specialists work with me and the dog throughout fostering has enhanced my ability to help the dog, reduced the stresses of fostering, and taught me lots of things I didn’t know I needed to learn". :heart:

She concludes, "I really can’t say enough good things about DDR—it’s so supportive of foster humans and so committed to the wellbeing of dogs. So many great people involved as volunteers, all of them helpful and encouraging."
