When I first met Leroy, now known as Bogo, it was clear his early years were spent in survival mode. He was severely underweight, fearful, and had little experience with people or the outside world. I devoted myself to helping him heal, spending hours by his side and coaxing him to eat small amounts of food. Prayer and patience guided us through his toughest days. After his surgery, he still struggled to eat, and the vet put him on special food.
Then, a breakthrough—he discovered hot dogs! For weeks, I used them to get him eating and gaining weight. With time, Leroy began to trust me, playing with our other dogs and bonding with my family.
One day, at Tractor Supply, a woman approached him, and instead of fear, he reacted with curiosity. It was a moment of trust and growth. Leroy had become part of our family, and soon, he was ready for his forever home—his fostering journey nearing fulfillment.
Before his new family arrived, I reassured him that he’d be loved and cared for. Leroy taught me about resilience, love, and trust. I know he’s thriving now, swimming in the backyard and living his best life.
Thank you, Doodle Dandy Rescue, for giving me the chance to help Leroy heal and find happiness in his new home.
