Guero is going to have the best “Happily Ever After” story. This boy and the volunteers at DDR have all worked extra hard to get him ready. Guero (who goes by “Goose”) has spent a lot of time overcoming his early lack of experiences and negative experiences. This smart, handsome boy was securely in “survival mode” for a long time. Now, he’s looking to enter his “thrive” era. Goose knows humans only as “family” or “stranger danger”. For Goose, all strangers are potentially dangerous and untrustworthy. It takes patience and consistency to move from stranger to friend to family in Goose’s world. When you make the leap, though, the rewards are great! This is a dog whose loyalty will stand the test of time.

If you’re an introvert who enjoys quiet evenings at home, then Goose will fit right into that vibe! He is not a “park” or “winery” dog unless you mean to “park on the couch and cuddle while you enjoy a glass of Cabernet.” Once he is comfortable, Goose has a playful, affectionate personality. He is fun-loving and sweet. He has a happy demeanor and loves to cuddle with trusted family. He adores toys and will chase after a ball like a centerfielder (albeit a clumsy one). He’s sure to make you smile and laugh with his antics. He would appreciate a securely fenced yard where he can run and play safely. He also finds joy in playing with other dogs and would do well with another medium-energy fur-mate.

Goose has worked extensively with our training partner and will have a considerable support system to ensure his successful adoption. For this reason, his adoption is limited to rescue-experienced owners located in the DFW-area and includes a commitment to continue his training and a strict decompression and integration protocol. Goose has been trained to use a muzzle and must have repeated, slow introductions to unfamiliar people and stressful situations like veterinary offices or groomers in order to establish trust prior to services. Goose’s journey is the success story that you’ll share with your friends 30 years from now.

Guero’s adoption fee is $700. He is HW negative, current on all HW/flea preventatives, neutered, and microchipped. All adoption fees go toward expenses like medical costs and food for Doodle Dandy dogs and help make it possible for us to continue giving amazing pups like Guero a second chance.
